| DBE was first invited to participate in the 1997 Scottish Games by the Caledonian
Club of San Francisco. The Caledonian
Club is the main sponsor of the Games. The
Games are held over Labor Day Weekend at the Alameda County Fairgrounds
in Pleasanton. Attendance is usually around 50,000-60,000.
DBE members man the
Tea Room
for two full days starting at 7:00 a.m. and
ending at 6:00 p.m. We take over a concession stand in the Hall of
Commerce and turn it into a Tea Room for the two days.
The members of DBE make all the items that we sell (i.e., shortbread,
jam & lemon curd tarts, fruit cake, empire biscuits, maids of honor,
scones and sausage rolls).
We sell the items individually or offer a sample plate which includes a
drink.
All the proceeds from the Tea Room go the British Home in Sierra Madre,
California. |
